During my trip in Frankfurt, the one thing that I loved to do was to go to the bookshop to check out the magazines, there were lots of interesting magazines but they were all written in German. One Graphic Design magazine stood out from the rest, it was written in both German and also in English. So I bought the magazine. I have enjoyed the magazine very much. So here's my recommendation:
Novum - World of Graphic Design
websiteThe issue I bought has introduction to papers. I have always loved to feel different paper and this magazine has pages of sample paper with the same print for comparision with each other. Interesting, to me, quality of paper is important. It's about personal taste and preference, the one who appreciates the beauty and craft in a piece of paper, is one who appreciates aesthetic.
Generally German designs are really clean (layout), simple (text), colorful (mono color tone) and effective. It shows in many of their architecture and products that I have seen when I was in Frankfurt this time. I have always known German design but this is the first time I came to be in their culture as well. It was a good experience and visual feast to see some of the German design.
