23th October 2008 - 23th November 2008

The New Vision Arts Festival has always been a challenging experience – not only for programme organisers but also for audiences. However, over the years, the Festival has established itself as a pioneering force, developing a unique position within the performing arts arena with its edgy, boundary-crossing performances and Asian touch.

This year's Festival – its fourth appearance – is no exception and sees the realisation of a number of exciting local and overseas co-commissioned projects. These include Nederlands Dans Theater I's Renature by Wayne McGregor with music by Karen Tanaka; Liang Hongyu, the final part of Li Liuyi's Trilogy of War Heroines, co-commissioned with the Holland Festival; and Zuni Icosahedron's God Came to China.

A rich range of programmes further encourages audiences to expand their artistic perspectives. Liu Sola and Ensemble Modern explore the illusory nature of power in the cutting-edge Fantasy of the Red Queen, presented in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Hongkong and Berlin's House of World Cultures. Hong Kong film director Tsui Hark and the Contemporary Legend Theatre of Taiwan take Shakespeare's Tempest across new frontiers. Theatre du Pif 's The Will to Build, jointly presented with the British Council to celebrate its 60th anniversary in Hong Kong, focuses on innovative verbatim theatre and Hong Kong's never-ending cycle of construction and destruction. New perspectives on performance are presented in Rock Hard, a theatrical choral concert by the Yat Po Singers, while On & On Theatre Workshop and Mobius Strip Theatre of Taiwan explore the potentially devastating world of desire in In the Solitude of Cotton Fields.

Yo-Yo Ma's creative concerts with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra add to the vibrant, mix, along with programmes such as About Khon, Kisaeng Becomes You and Fragile Beauty, where traditional art forms are reinterpreted in contemporary modes to explore and comment on life today.

The New Vision Arts Festival delights in bringing people together, inspiring original performances and encouraging creativity.

Tickets for all programmes of the New Vision Arts Festival will be available at all URBTIX outlets from 5 September. All box offices accept cash and credit cards (American Express, VISA, Diners Club or MasterCard). One hour before the performance, tickets will only be available at the performing venue.
